Central to Wellness
Health is More than Healthcare
Hunter Health is transforming the corner of Central and Grove in Wichita to become a destination for better health. The Community Wellness Center creates more space to enhance services for our current patients and serve the entire community by offering health and wellness education programs that address lifestyle modifcations such as diet and exercise, and managing chronic disease.
The Community Wellness Center will provide:
- Health education center addressing financial literacy, workforce readiness, and more
- Demonstration kitchen for nutrition and cooking classes
- Additional clinical services, such as physical and occupational therapy and more
- Targeted fitness programming and equipment for pain reduction and other wellness needs
- Drop-in childcare center for parents accessing clinic and/or wellness center services
- Enhanced walkability and flow with an enclosed inner loop
- Access to nature and green space including a courtyard, open spaces, and a community plaza

Jackie’s Story
Care that Creates a Better Community
When Jackie came to Hunter Health with symptoms linked to high blood pressure, she had no idea she was in a hypertensive crisis. In fact, her blood pressure was so high that medication wasn’t bringing it down quickly enough. Instead of calling 911 to transport Jackie to the emergency room, her medical provider called one of Hunter Health’s behavioral health consultants—saving Jackie an expensive ER bill and helping manage overall healthcare costs.
