A healthy diet plays a crucial role in your overall health. At Hunter Health, we want to make sure everyone has access to nutritional information and programs. Whether you have been diagnosed with a chronic disease, or you’d like to take preventative measures, our programs will give you valuable information to achieve and maintain good health. We offer programs and classes for prevention, self-management, and general education.
Our prediabetes program is a lifestyle intervention program designed for people who have prediabetes or are at risk for type 2 diabetes, but who do not already have diabetes. A trained lifestyle coach leads the program to help participants change certain aspects of their lifestyle and includes topics on eating healthier, reducing stress, and getting more physical activity. This lifestyle change program is not a fad diet or an exercise class, and it’s not a quick fix. It’s a year-long program focused on long-term changes and lasting results.
These 6-week programs teach skills that are needed in the day-to-day management of chronic illness and diabetes, including stress management, healthy eating and physical activity. Hunter Health is operating under KDHE and KFMC license.
This weekly class is offered to obstetric patients who are newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes. In this class, participants learn about what gestational diabetes is and how to manage it by healthy eating, activity and self-monitoring of blood glucose.
