Indigenous Peoples Remembrance Day

October 11 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Indigenous Peoples Remembrance Day

Indigenous Peoples Day gives us an opportunity to remember those who came before us.
On Saturday, October 11 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., visit the Mid-America All Indian Museum for Indigenous Peoples Remembrance Day and the Annual Trail of Tears Memorial Walk. The event will start with a welcome and blessing, followed by a reading of the Indigenous Peoples Day Proclamation and a memorial walk around the drum on the back grounds of MAAIM. Community resource and health stations will be available on site, including flu vaccines from Hunter Health, as well as hands-on activities and games for the kids.
The Indigenous Peoples Remembrance Day and Trail of Tears Memorial is free and open to all. The event is hosted by the Native American Community Resource Coalition.
IMPORTANT! Please park at Exploration Place and walk across the Keeper Plaza to MAAIM, as the small parking lot in front of the museum is reserved for elders and handicapped.
