Community Resources for Northeast Millair

In the Northeast Millair district near 29th and Grove, a chemical spill involving Trichloroethylene (TCE), has raised concerns about the health and safety of the residents.

At Hunter Health, we’re working with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD), the City of Wichita, and other local health agencies to help those affected.

Next Steps?

Right now, we’re be providing health screenings every Thursday from 5-7 PM for those who have spent time in the area highlighted on the map.

The yellow area in the figure shows the approximate shape and location in which the chemical spill has spread through underground water.

What is TCE?

TCE, or Trichloroethylene, is an industrial degreaser, but its mishandling poses severe health threats. Prolonged exposure, whether through inhalation, ingestion, or touch, poses serious health risks, including various types of cancer. That’s why it’s crucial to get screened if you’ve been in the affected zone.

How do I schedule an appointment?

If you or your loved ones feel that you are at risk, don’t hesitate. Health screenings are a proactive measure that can potentially detect early signs of problems, providing a better chance for timely solutions.
